Oilers Victorious at Don Underwood Invitational | Tie Best 54- Hole Team Score in Program History

Allendale, Michigan- The University of Findlay men`s golf team finished their final round in the Don Underwood Invitational at the Meadows on Tuesday, September 10. Entering the round, the Oilers held a four stroke advantage going into the final 18 holes. The Oilers would continue their success and be crowned champions for the second time in as many tournaments this season with a five stroke victory over the field.

The Oilers were led by seniors Sam Griffith and Luke Kelly. Griffith finished his three round total at 214 (74,74,66) including a final round -5 (66). This score is second best 18-hole score in program history. Kelly remained steady throughout his 54-holes as well with a score of 217 (73,70,74) for the tournament. The two placed third and tied-for-sixth, respectively.

Also placing in the top ten was junior Parker Haynes. Haynes placed in a tie for 9th after a 54-hole score of 218 (73,75,70) including a final round one under par. Caleb Westfall finished tied for 18th by scoring 222 (71,69,82) and Tanner Grzegorcyzk finished tied for 29th with scores of 71,77,78 for a 54-score of 226.

Playing as an individual was sophomore Hunter Foltz. Foltz placed in the top ten as well with his 6th place finish. He shot rounds of 70,72, and 75 for a 54-hole score of 217.

With the score of 864 over the span of 54-holes, the Oilers tied the best team score in program history.

The men`s team will look to continue their success next week in Owensboro, Kentucky.  The Oilers will compete Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17 in the G-MAC Fall Invitational at the Pearl Club.
