Cardinals Nip Oilers 2-1

Saginaw Valley State scored the first two goals and then held-off UF for a 2-1 win on Sunday at University Center.

UF goalkeeper Alex Jurek allowed a goal at 15:56 of the first half, but the score remained 1-0 in favor of SVSU at the half. Jurek, who recorded four saves, was able to hold-off the Cardinals until 54:58 when a second goal entered the UF net.

Brennan Williams provided a glimmer of hope for the Oilers at 75:39 by left-footing a loose ball into the Cardinal goal from 19 yards out. The match, however, would end 2-1.

Saginaw placed eight shots on goal compared to four for Findlay, while UF had six corner kicks and the Cardinals only three. Findlay now stands at 1-4-1 overall and 1-3-1 in GLIAC play, while Saginaw improves to 4-3 and 2-2.

The Oilers return to action on September 24 when they are hosted by old GLIAC foe Mercyhurst at Erie, Pennsylvania in a match scheduled to kickoff at 4pm..
