Oilers Picked to Finish 5th

The University of Findlay men's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the North Division of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) this season as the league office announced their annual preseason poll on Thursday, Aug. 23.

The Oilers, who earned 12 points in the poll, will look to come out with a rejuvenated attitude this season after a 3-13-1 record in 2011.  They will be led by Andy Smyth, who is entering his 24th year (177-190-34) at the helm of the program

The Oilers return their top two goal scorers from last year, including junior Alex Oliver, who led the team with three goals as well as junior Nick Naayers, who started all 17 games a year ago while scoring two goals.

Saginaw Valley State University was tabbed the favorite in the North Division while Notre Dame College took the top honor in the South Division.
