Brooks Saves 13 In 1-1 Tie Against Ashland

The University of Findlay men's soccer team tied 1-1 against Ashland University on Friday, Oct. 19 in Findlay, Ohio.

The Oilers dominiated pocession the first 20 minutes of the game, scoring their only goal in the 13th minute when Ryan Poyle found Mark Sleasman in the middle of the field from about 30-yards out.

Ashland was able to put pressure on Findlay the remainder of the half, rattling off nine shots. Then, two-minutes into the second half, the Eagles were able to get one past Findlay keeper Matthew Brooks off a deflection after a diving save.

Brooks played one of his best games between the pipes, keeping the score at 1-1 for the remainder of the game. He ended with 13 saves on the day, including three in the overtime periods.

With the draw, the Oilers move to 4-8-1 on the season with a 2-8-1 mark in GLIAC play. The will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 21 when they host Oakland City.
