The University of Findlay men's soccer team opened their season with a 0-0 tie against Lewis University in double overtime on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Romeoville, Ill.
The Flyers, who knocked off #2 Saginaw Valley State University by a score of 3-2 on Thursday, held a 19-9 advantage in the shot department. They also had a commanding 7-1 edge in shots on goal, but freshman goalkeeper Joe McClanahan was strong in the net for Findlay.
McClanahan faced 19 shots and made seven saves to earn a tie in his first collegiate game between the pipes.
The Oilers lone shot on goal came off of the foot of sophomore Ryan Poyle.
Findlay will return to action again on Monday, Sept. 9 when they hit the road to face Concord University at 5 p.m.
