Poyle Leads Men's Soccer to 3-0 Win

The University of Findlay men's soccer team earned their first victory of the season with a 3-0 win at Concord University on Monday, Sept. 9.  The Oilers record now stands at 1-0-1 on the year.

The Oilers jumped out to a 2-0 lead just before the first half ended as sophomore Ryan Poyle and Nick Soncrant within three minutes of time.

Poyle scored the first goal of the game and the first for the Oilers in their 2013 season at the 37:38 mark off of an assist by sophomore Mark Sleasman.  Soncrant then scored unassisted at the 40:29 mark of the first half to give the Oilers a solid 2-0 edge at the break.

Poyle would then score his second goal of the contest at the 56:34 mark of the game off of an assist by Soncrant.

Senior Alex Jurek and freshman Joe McClanahan combined to force the shutout in the net for Findlay.

The Oilers held a 14-4 advantage in the shot department and fired seven shots on goal.  Concord meanwhile did not manage a single shot on goal during the game.

Findlay will return to the field again on Friday, Sept. 13 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to take on Tiffin University.  The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
