The University of Findlay men's soccer team pulled an upset as they beat 24th nationally ranked and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Northwood University 2-1 on Friday, September 26 at DeHaven Field.

Northwood jumped out to a 1-0 lead when James Decosemo scored at the 10 minute mark.

During the final minute of the second half the Oilers scored in dramatic fashion when Ryan Poyle knocked it into the center of the net to give the Oilers the lead with just 45 seconds remaining.  Poyle's game-winning goal was assisted by junior Ryan Repas

Northwood had the edge offensively with a 9-6 advantage in shots and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, but the Oilers prevailed and capitalized on their scoring opportunities to claim the upset victory.

Findlay goalkeeper Joe McClanahan earned the victory in the net and had three saves in the process.

The Oilers, who earned their first GLIAC victory on the season and are now 2-5 on the year, will host the number 2 nationally ranked and GLIAC foe Saginaw Valley State University on Sunday, September 28 at 3 p.m.
