Oilers Shutout Malone 5-0

The University of Findlay men's soccer team walloped Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Malone University 5-0 on Sunday, October 19 at DeHaven Field. 

The debacle started when junior Ryan Poyle scored at the 43 minute mark.  His goal was assisted by senior Veselin Panchev

The Oilers quickly extended their lead in the second half when junior Jordan Gozelski scored at the 48 minute mark off of an assist from Panchev. 

Gozelski punched the ball into the middle of the net for his second goal of the contest at the 74 minute mark to give the Oilers a commanding 3-0 lead. 

The Oilers swiftly scored again when senior Jesse Zilio scored on a one-timer off of an assist from Gozelski to extend their lead to 4-0. 

The Oilers delivered their final blow of the contest when freshman Ryan Husband scored unassisted at the 89 minute mark. 

Oiler goalkeeper Joe McClanahan claimed the shutout victory in the net and had four saves in the contest, which included a blocked penalty kick. 

The Oilers dominated offensively and were firing on all cylinders with a 23-9 advantage in the shot department.   

The Oilers, who are now 4-10 on the season with today's victory and have a 3-8 mark in GLIAC play, will travel to University Center, Michigan on Friday, October 24 to face GLIAC rival Saginaw Valley State University.
