Oilers Fight to 1-1 Draw against Pioneers

The University of Findlay men's soccer team tied 1-1 against the Malone University Pioneers Friday, Oct. 16 in Canton, Ohio. This tie brings the team's record to 7-4-1 on the season with a 6-4-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers scored first in the game when senior Veselin Panchev scored his second goal of the season.  Panchev was assisted off a cross by sophomore teammate John Clark.  Malone scored shortly after to tie the game into overtime.

Unfortunately the Oilers were unable to break the tie by the end of the second overtime period. Findlay dominated offensively with 21:6 shots in the game. Freshmen Michael Shaikly and Nathan Williams had shots on goal for the team.

The tie breaks a 4 game winning streak for Findlay. Head coach Andy Smyth is one game away from earning his 200th win with the UF men's soccer team.

The men play next Sunday, Oct. 18 in an away game against Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio at 3:30pm.
