Oilers Defeat Panthers

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay men's soccer team defeated the Ohio Dominican University Panthers on Sunday, October, 2nd. This win gives the Oilers a 4-6 overall record and a 3-5 record in the conference.

Five minutes into the game, sophomore Josh Burton scored off a breakaway with an assist from sophomore Michael Shaikly to take the lead 1-0 early on.

With fifteen minutes left to go in the half, the Panthers countered with a goal from inside the box to tie the game up 1-1.

At the end of the first half, the Oilers and Panthers both had four shots, while the Panthers had four shots on goal and the Oilers had 1 shot on goal.

With twenty minutes left in the game, sophomore Michael Shaikly put the Oilers in the lead 2-1 off of a breakaway assist from junior Alex Glibert.

With fifteen minutes left to play, the Panthers countered with a goal off of a free kick to head the ball in the back of the net to tie up the game 2-2.

Nine minutes later, sophomore Michael Shaikly poked the ball into the net off of an assist from junior Peyton Shroeder to give the Oilers the lead 3-2.

 With two minutes left to go in the game, sophomore Michael Shaikly received a red card leaving the Oilers down a man for the rest of the match. 

At the end of the second half, the Oilers had six shots, totaling ten for the game, while the Panthers had seven shots, totaling eleven for the game.

The Oilers will take the field again on Friday, October 7 at 4:00pm against Walsh University at Armstrong Sports Complex.
