Oilers Overcome Cavaliers

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay men's soccer team defeated the Walsh University Cavaliers 2-0 on Friday, October 7.  This win gives the Oilers a 5-6 overall record and a 4-5 conference record.

Fifteen minutes into the game, junior Peyton Schroeder put the ball in the back of the net from inside the box to put the Oilers up 1-0 early on.

At the end of the first half, the Oilers and Cavaliers both attained five shots, while the Oilers had three shots on goal to the Cavaliers two shots on goal. 

With thirty minutes left in the game, the Oilers scored, but it was taken back due to an offside call, keeping the game 1-0 in favor of the Oilers.

The Oilers capitalized on another goal with twenty –two minutes left in the game.  Freshman Josh Dickinson chipped the ball over the keeper with an assist from freshman Rayan Mroue to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead.

The Oilers defense, lead by freshman Kegan Winkler and junior Bailey Crawford shut out the Cavaliers to win the game 2-0.

The Oilers ended the game with ten shots and six shots on goal, while Walsh ended the game with ten shots and five shots on goal.

The Oilers will take the field again on Sunday, October 9  at 1:00pm against Lake Erie College at Armstrong Sports Complex.
