Oilers Defeat Cedarville in G-MAC Matchup

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay men' soccer team defeated the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets in a G-MAC contest on Saturday, September 23 at DeHaven Field with a 2-1 final score. The victory boosts the Oilers to 6-1 overall with a 5-1 record in conference play.

The Oilers took the lead early in the first half when freshman Josh Hales scored an unassisted goal in the second minute of the match. Findlay would stretch their lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute by way of a header from junior Josh Burton that was scored from a corner kicked by sophomore Josh Dickinson.

Cedarville was able to cut the lead to 2-1 before halftime, but the score would remain for the rest of the match.

Hales recorded goal number six for the year and Burton follows with his fifth score on the season. The Oilers fired off nine shots on goal and had two corner kick opportunities.

Senior Ben Richter gets the decision in front of the net for Findlay and improved his goal keeper record to 5-1. Richter gathered six saves during the match.

The Oilers will be back on the field Thursday, September 28 when they travel to Davis & Elkins College for another Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The evening match is set to begin at 7:30 PM.
