Oilers Advance in G-MAC Tournament

Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay men's soccer team was victorious in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference quarterfinal tournament game against the Trevecca Nazerene University Trojans on Saturday, October 28 at DeHaven Field. The win boosts the Oilers to a 13-5 (12-3) record while the Trojans finish their season with a 7-8-2 (7-7-1) record.

The Oilers threw the first blow, with sophomore Josh Dickinson finding the back of the net from about 15 feet above the box in the 13th minute of the match.

Findlay grew their lead in the 20th minute with Dickinson again finding himself in the action, this time assisting a goal to freshman Marcel Munger. This was Munger's second goal of the season.

The Trojans were able to cut the deficit with 15 minutes remaining in the half and the score would stay 2-1 in favor of the Oilers heading into halftime.

The first 20 minutes of the second period went scoreless, until Dickinson found the back of the net once again and brought the score to the eventual 3-1 decision. Dickinson's second goal of the match was assisted by junior Josh Burton and junior Ryan Moreno

The Oilers had 15 total shots to Trevecca's 17, and had eight shots on goal to Trevecca's 10. 

In front of the net for Findlay and receiving the goal keeper decision was junior Grady Stewart. Stewart collected nine saves during the match.

The Oilers will continue on in the G-MAC tournament next Thursday, November 2. Time and location of the match is to be determined.
