Oilers Season Ends in G-MAC Semifinal

New Concord, OH – The University of Findlay men's soccer team fell to the Davis & Elkins College Senators in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference semifinal game in the 2-1 decision.

The loss brings the Oilers to an overall record of 13-6 with a 12-4 record in the conference. The Senators improve to 13-2-2 with a 12-1-2 record in the G-MAC.

The first half was dominated by defense, with each team only recording one shot on goal during the first 45 minutes. The Oilers fired off nine total shots to the Sentors' seven.

The Senators came out swinging in the second half, scoring goals in the 65th and 78th minute of the match.

The Oilers did not go down easy, as they responded with a score of their own in the 81st minute by sophomore Kegan Winkler on an assist from freshman Jacob Montag. This was Winkler's second goal of the season.

Davis & Elkins held onto the lead for the remaining eight minutes to secure their advance in the tournament.

During the match, junior Josh Burton broke the record for most shots (96) in a season that was previously set by Luis Cortell (94) in 2003.

The team also set the record for most shots (353) in a season that was previously held by the 1991 soccer team (350).

The Oilers finish their season with the second most wins (13) in school history, falling just one short of the record holding 1992 team.
