Box Score

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team came away with a 2-1 win in double overtime over 7th-ranked Ohio Valley University on Tuesday, September 10 in their season opener at DeHaven Field. This marks the second straight year the Oilers have taken down Ohio Valley at DeHaven as they beat the 6th-ranked Fighting Scots last year by a score of 2-0.

Ohio Valley struck first with 9:08 on the clock when Hugo Kadima kicked it in the lower right corner of the net. That would be the only goal to come for another 60 minutes until senior Josh Dickinson would tie it up for the Oilers as he pounded the ball into the back of the net at the 72:32 mark.

Both teams would then have several chances to win in regulation before the game headed to overtime. After one extra session the game remained tied at 1-1 and then in the second, Dickinson found Alex Kerstetter diving towards the box, and Kerstetter tapped the ball in for the game-winning goal.

The Oilers outshot the Fighting Scots 15-12 in the contest and goalkeeper Andrew Boulton had 6 saves throughout the game.

The Oilers, who are now 2-0 on the year, will have another home game against Daemen University on Saturday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m.
