Oilers Split With Quakers

The Oilers were paced by three triple-winners in a split at Wilmington College on Saturday. The UF women nipped the Quakers 104-98, while the men fell by a score of 109-65.

Allie Hershaw won the 800-meter freestyle (9:42.87), the 200-meter IM (2:29.98) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:18.83) for Findlay. Emily Thomas won 200-meter freestyle (2:14.01), the 100-meter freestyle (1:01.04) and swam the first leg of the winning 200-meter freestyle relay (1:56.75). Tim Andersson-Lind led the Findlay men by winning the 200-meter freestyle (2:06.96), the 100-meter butterfly (1:01.96) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:32.12).

Double-winners for the Oilers were Nikki Schnell-McCoy in the 100-meter backstroke (1:10.23) and the second leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay, and Jill Herbst in the 50-meter freestyle (29.51) and the third leg of the 200-meter freestyle. John Bogart won the 100-meter freestyle (57.88) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:12.89).

UF's other winners were David Conti in the 200-meter IM (2:23.38), Tanya Tikhonova in the 400-meter freestyle (4:50.23), and Sam Reynolds in the anchor-leg of the winning 200-meter freestyle.

Tikhonova finished second in the 800-meter freestyle (9:51.25) and the 100-meter freestyle (1:03.37), Bogart was second in the 50-meter freestyle (26.22), Schnell-McCoy placed second in the 200-meter IM (2:37.91), Herbst was second in the 100-meter butterfly (1:11.02) and Conti added a second in the 100-meter backstroke (1:06.58).
