Oilers Take 9th At EMU

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the second day of the Eastern Michigan University Invitational on Saturday, December 4 in Ypsilanti, Michigan and were led by Ailsa Hershaw who had a hand in setting two school records.

Hershaw placed ninth in the 200-yard IM with a school record breaking time of 2:09.77 and teamed with Tanya Tikhonova, Emily Thomas and Nikki Schnell-McCoy to take 10th in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a school record breaking time of 7:58.37.

Hershaw was also 12th in the 400-yard IM at 4:40.04, teamed with Jillian Herbst, Schnell-McCoy and Thomas to finish 14th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.26.

The Oilers 400-yard medley relay team of Herbst, Hershaw, Tikhonova and Schnell-McCoy added a 14th place finish at 4:08.20.

On the men's side, David Conti placed 13th in the 400-yard IM (4:36.24), took 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.98) and finished 20th in the 200-yard IM (2:07.43) to lead the team.

John Bogart added a 16th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:05.04 and a 17th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.48 as well.

In team competition, the women placed eighth with 64 points while the men were ninth with seven points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on January 15 when they host Grand Valley State University at 1 pm.
