Lakers Top Oilers On Saturday

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost to Grand Valley State University on Saturday, January 15 in Sink Natatorium. The men fell 167-25 while the women lost a 146-67 decision.

On the women's side, Ailsa Hershaw finished first in the 100-yard freestyle after crossing the line in 54.93, second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.22) and second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.68).

Maddie Bell won the 1-meter dive at 217.28 and finished second in the 3-meter with 199.58 points.

Tanya Tikhonova took second in the 200-yard IM at 2:15.38, second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.65) and teamed with Jill Herbst, Nikki Schnell-McCoy and Samantha Reynolds to place second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:49.30).

Schnell-McCoy was also second in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:02.44 while Mallory Ament finished second in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:29.43 and second in the 1000-yard freestyle at 11:11.56.

On the men's side, David Conti was second in the 200-yard IM at 2:05.52 and also took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.38.

John Bogart added a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.55) while Conti took third in the same event at 1:06.87.

Bogart was also third in the 50-yard freestyle (23.81) while Tim Andersson-Lind was third in the 100-yard butterfly (54.99).

The Oilers will be back in action again on January 21 when they host Ohio Wesleyan at 6 pm.
