Findlay Completes 1st Day At EMU
The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the first day of competition at the Eastern Michigan University on Friday, December 2 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
On the women's side, freshman Molly Cade broke the school record of 2:15.56 in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:09.09 in her seventh place finish.
Cade, along with teammates Emily Thomas, Ailsa Hershaw, and Annie Currin, hold a new Findlay record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:39.80, 14 seconds faster than the old record of 3:54.13.
On the men's side, Findlay records were slashed as well with a ninth place finish in the 200 breaststroke from David Soutoul with a time of 2:09.81 (previous record 2:12.88).
Freshman David Vittori slashed the previous Oiler record of 16:44.38 in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:38.40 as Ryan Randall took 10th with a time of 17:10.81.
The men's 400 relay consisting of Soutoul, Vittori, Randall, and Colton Brauning finished 12th at a time of 3:17.63.
The event will conclude tomorrow, Saturday, December 3.
The Oiler diving teams traveled to Kenyon College for the Total Performance Invitational where Maddie Bell set a new meet record as she snatched first with 377.70. Ashleigh Weddington took second with a performance of 316.12. The diving competition will conclude tomorrow.
