Findlay Splits At Ohio Northern

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in Ada, Ohio on Saturday, December 8, against Ohio Northern and Defiance. The women won 194-104 over Ohio Northern and 234-31 against Defiance. The men fell to Ohio Northern 207.5-66.5 and won against Defiance 140-15.

The Oilers were able to finish with 15 golds for the women and four first place finishes on the men's side.

Kaley Holmstrom took gold in four events, including a first place in the 400 medley relay, along with Emily Thomas, Molly Cade, and Ailsa Hershaw, with a time of 4:05.43. Holmstrom's other gold finishes were in the 400 IM (4:46.28), 200 breast (2:31.58), and 100 breast (1:09.48).

Thomas snatched first in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.15 and the 100 free at 54.68. Kate Fisher took first in the 1000 free (11.18.77). Jillian Herbst grabbed gold in the 50 free, clocking in at 25.94.

The 400 relay team, consisting of Thomas, Cade, Hershaw, and Annie Currin, placed first at 3:44.54. Currin also took first in the 200 free (2:00.32) and 500 free (5:21.25). Hershaw, clocking in at 2:15.06, snatched first in the 200 back.

Ashleigh Weddington took first in the 3 meter dive with 220.85 points. Cade rounded out the Oilers' phenomenal night in the pool with two victories of her own, one in the 100 fly (58.78) and 200 fly (2:11.70).

On the men's side, Diego Santos placed first in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.81. Anthony Calvillo took gold in the 100 breast at 1:07.02.

Colton Sayers won the 100 fly with a time of 56.69 and was a member of the victorious 400 freestyle relay, along with Sanots, Garrett Gardner, and Jay Clinger (3:29.04).

The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, January 5, as they host GLIAC foe Grand Valley State. The meet is slated for 1 p.m.
