Oilers Fall To Grand Valley State

The University of Findlay swimming and diving teams hosted a meet against Grand Valley State on Saturday, Jan. 5. The women's team fell, 203-121, and the men were defeated 242-36 by the Lakers.

Kaley Holmstrom took gold in the 50 breast (32.76) and second in the 100 breast (1:09.86). Molly Cade snatched first in the 100 fly, clocking in at 1:00.62. In the 50 fly, Cade and Jillian Herbst finished first (27.20) and second (27.42), respectively.

The women's 200 medley relay team, consisting of Isidora Yanex, Holmstrom, Herbst, and Ailsa Hershaw, finished second with a time of 1:54.15. Hershaw placed second in the 100 back at 1:02.81.

Emily Thomas grabbed first in the 100 free (55.45) and second in the 200 free (2:00.76). Thomas also took silver in the 50 free (25.67).

Cade, Thomas, Hershaw, and Annie Currin finished second in the 200 free relay, clocking in at 1:43.18. Ashleigh Weddington snatched second in the 3 meter dive with 210.53 points.

On the men's side, Colton Sayers took silver in the 500 free (5:13.72). David Conti placed second in the 50 fly with a time of 26.28 and second in the 200 IM (2:12.33).

The 200 free relay team, including Conti, Anthony Calvillo, Garrett Gardner, and Jay Clinger, grabbed second with a time of 1:36.23.

The Oilers will be back in action on Friday, January 11, in Detroit, Michigan. The GLIAC meet against Wayne State is slated for 5 p.m.
