Oilers Complete Day 1 of GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Canton, Ohio.

The women achieved two NCAA Division II "B" times during the first day of competition in the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay. 

The Oilers 200 medley team of Ailsa Hershaw, Kaley Holmstrom, Jillian Herbst and Emily Thomas took fifth with their "B" time of 1:46.90 while the 800 freestyle relay team of Molly Cade, Annie Currin, Cade and Hershaw finished sixth with a "B" cut time of 7:50.43.

Currin also added a 13th place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle after crossing the line in 10:42.33.

On the men's side, the Oilers 200-yard medley relay team of Diego Santos, Colton Sayers, Anthony Calvillo and Garrett Gardner swam to a time of 1:39.75, which was good for eighth place.  David Conti, Jay Clinger, Sayers and Gardner also teamed for an eighth place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay at 7:26.66.

The Oilers will continue the event tomorrow and end the championship on Saturday
