Oilers Lose to Lake Erie 158-100

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their meet against Lake Erie College at the Spire Institute on Saturday, October 12 in Geneva, Ohio.  The men fell 158-100 while the women were victorious by a score of 175-104. 

On the women's side, Kate Fisher won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:27.60. Kaley Holmstrom won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.07) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.05) while Ailsa Hershaw won the 100-yard freestyle (55.53) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.98) to lead the Oilers. Jessica Ward took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.66. 

The Oilers 200-yard medley relay team of Holmstrom, Ward, Molly Cade and Hershaw took first place with a time of 1:51.29.  The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Cade, Holmstrom, Emily Annen and Hannah Schreiber took first place with a time of 3:52.70

Kyleigh Rubis won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:19.04 while Annie Currin won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:36.41.

The women's diving team finished in first place when diver Ashleigh Weddington won the 1 meter dive (204.05) and the 3 meter dive (214.90). 

On the men's side, Jonathan Marble won the 1000-yard freestyle (11:00.54) while Diego Santos won the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.22).  The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Cody Craig, Clay Fogle, Nick Kaftan and Santos finished in first place with a time of 3:20.59. 

The Oilers will return to the pool again on October 18 at Sink Natatorium against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Ashland University at 6 p.m.
