Oiler Men Lose To Tiffin 133-98

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their meet against Tiffin University at Sink Natatorium on Saturday, October 19. The women were victorious by a score of 121-64 while the men fell 133-98. 

On the women's side, the relay of freshman Lindsey Norris, junior Annie Curren, sophomore Gabby Fenn and sophomore Kari Lemanski led off the meet with a victory in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:40.52. 

The Oilers first individual victory came in the 1000-yard freestyle where freshman Corrina Talamo won with a time of 11:50.95. Talamo also claimed victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:44.94.

Sophomore Jessica Ward won the 100-yard freestyle (56.29) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.26) while junior Molly Cade won the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.28) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.80). 

Freshman Emily Annen won the 50-yard freestyle (26.64) while senior Ailsa Hershaw won the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.50). 

Ashleigh Weddington was a double winner on the boards, winning with scores of 249.65 on the 1 meter and 269.50 on the 3 meter board. Weddington's score of 269.50 on the 3 meter board established a new school record on a 6 dive list.  With that score, Weddington achieved the national qualifying standard on the 3 meter board. 

The relay of Cade, sophomore Kaley Holmstrom, freshman Kyleigh Rubis and freshman Marissa McDonald took first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:53.13.

On the men's side, junior Diego Santos won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.61 while freshman Todo Djurovic won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.85.

The Oilers will be back in competition on November 16 in Canton, Ohio when they compete in a double dual facing off against Hillsdale College and Malone University.
