Oilers Finish Day 1 of Doug Coers Invitational

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of the Doug Coers Invitational, hosted by Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, on Friday, November 22. Both men and women's teams are in third place after day 1 of the invitational.  Through the first session, the men have scored 76.5 points and the women scored 87. 

On the women's side, the relay of senior Ailsa Hershaw, junior Molly Cade, sophomore Jessica Ward and sophomore Kaley Holmstrom took third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.18. Cade, Ward, Hershaw and Holmstrom also took third place in the 400-yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:04.80. 

Cade took sixth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.38.  Holmstrom snagged third place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.42) while Ward placed ninth (2:17.26). 

Junior Annie Currin took ninth place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.30) while freshman Corrina Talamo placed twelfth (5:37.65). 

Junior Ashleigh Weddington took sixth place on the 1 meter board, she scored 207 points on her 6 dive list.

On the men's side, the relay of freshman Todo Djurovic, junior Diego Santos, freshman Cody Craig and freshman Clay Fogle took third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.60.  Santos, Djurovic, freshman Aaron Mitchell and Craig took third place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:38.24. 

Craig took twelfth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.87. In the 200-yard individual medley, Djurovic placed second (1:58.51), Santos placed third (2:01.13) and freshman Nick Kaftan placed tenth (2:08.29).

The Oilers will resume the Doug Coers invite tomorrow, first session beginning at 9 a.m.
