Currin And Djurovic Set New School Records at Calvin Winter Invite

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming teams completed the first day of the Calvin Winter Invitational at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Thursday, December 5.  After day 1 the men are in sixth place with 37 points and the women are in fifth place with 55 points. 

On the women's side, the relay of senior Alisa Hershaw, sophomore Jessica Ward, junior Annie Currin and freshman Kyleigh Rubis took eighth place in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:02.87.  The team of junior Kate Fisher, freshman Marissa McDonald, junior Isidora Yanez and freshman Corrina Talamo took eleventh place with a time of 8:25.15.

Annie Currin set a new school record when she took seventh place in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:01.22. Fisher took fourteenth place (18:29.84) and Talamo took fifteenth place (18:45.13). 

On the men's side, freshman Todo Djurovic set a new school record on the 200-yard freestyle leading off the 800-yard relay team with a time of 1:42.39. The relay included freshman Clay Fogle, freshman Nick Kaftan and freshman Cody Craig and they took ninth place with a time of 7:10.86.  The team of junior Colton Sayers, sophomore Garrett Gardner, freshman Tyler Matthews and freshman Ian Kochheiser took twelfth place with a time of 7:25.95. 

Freshman Jon Marble took twelfth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:32.79 while Matthews took thirteenth place with a time of 17:33.79. 

The Oilers will resume the Calvin Winter Invite tomorrow, first session beginning at 10 a.m.
