Ferrer Named GLIAC Athlete of the Week

Findlay, OH - Junior Oriol Ferrer has been named as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performances the week of March 19-25. It is the first time in his career that Ferrer, a first team all-GLIAC performer last season, has earned this honor.

This past weekend, the Barcelona, Spain native was nearly flawless in his performances over GLIAC's teams from the Upper Penninsula. On Friday against Michigan Tech, Ferrer teamed up with Carlos Blanco for an 8-0 win at first doubles and then, at first singles, dominated his opponent, winning by a score of 6-2, 6-2. The following day, Ferrer and Blanco won their doubles match by a slim 8-6 margin. In Ferrer's singles match, however, he made sure it was not a tight contest as he blew away his competition by a score of 6-0, 6-0. As a team, the Oilers won both of those matches.
