Oilers Go 6-0 In Round 1 Singles at ITA
The University of Findlay men's tennis team went 6-0 in singles competition during the first round of the ITA Midwest Regional at Davenport University on Sep. 28.
In singles A competition, Carlos Blanco defeated Hillsdale's Charlie Adams 7-5, 6-2 before falling 6-0, 6-2 to Niklas Karcz of Wayne State.
Eduard Munoz claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win over Michian Tech's Mario Neto before falling 6-3, 6-1 to Indianapolis' Renato Lima while Jorge Barnuevo won 7-5, 6-2 against Southern Indiana's Ilia Karelin before losing 6-3, 6-0 to Indianapolis' Magnus Mueller.
In singles B, Alfredo Berlanga won 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 against Hillsdale's Brian Hackman before losing 6-3 6-3 to Missouri-St. Louis' Adrian Lessing.
Sergio Palacio claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win against Hillsdale's Gabe Katz before falling 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 to Missouri-St. Louis' Nathan Pinto while Trevor Majdalani won 6-1, 6-2 against Rockhurst's Alex Bernadas before falling 6-0, 6-0 against Northwood's Pablo Salamanca.
In A doubles, Blanco and Barnuevo were defeated 8-4 against Ferris State's Ayush Deswal and Cedric Rupa while Palacio and Berlanga fell 8-5 against Hillsdale's John Ciraci and Brian Hackman.
