Oilers Complete Doug Raymond Invite
The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams completed the Doug Raymond Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 12 in Kent, Ohio.
Jessica Rowland led the way for the Oilers placing first in the weight throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying and school record breaking mark of 66-02.50. She also placed fourth in the shot put with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 48-02.00. Kendra Averesch finished seventh in the shot put with a heave of 43-02.50, and fifth in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 52-06.00.
Lydia Guagenti was the top placer for the team in the high jump finishing fifth with a mark of 5-04.25. Pam Showman matched that mark, while also placing 11th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.43, as well as a 12th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 15-11.50.
On the men's side, Glen Forsythe led the way with a first place finish in the triple jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 46-10.25, and placed third in the long jump with a mark of 21-11.75. Colin Thomas also placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 44-01.25, and Derek Spindler finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 14-09.00.
Marcus Vicars placed second in the shot put with an NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 56-07.50, while Taylor Miller placed fourth with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 53-11.00, and Darren Bass finished 10th with a heave of 49-09.25.
Taylor Miller and Marcus Vicars also placed fifth and seventh in the weight throw with tosses of 52-04.00 and 48-08.00, respectively.
Tim Sanders was the lead the men in track events placing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.28. He also achieved an eighth place finish in the 200-meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 22.65.
Travis Michael finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (50.98), while Joe Sherrieb and Kyle Smithey finished fifth (51.28) and seventh (51.59), respectively.
