Oilers Complete Final Day Of Jesse Owens Classic

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field team completed the final day of the Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday, April 20 in Columbus, Ohio.

Derrick Vicars won the shot put with an NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 63'02.75, while Taylor Miller also had an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 59'11.75 with his fifth place finish. Vicars also took sixth in the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 202'05.

Darren Johnson took ninth in both, the long jump (22'11.00), as well as the high jump (6'04.75). He also took seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 45'03.00, while Glen Forsythe took eighth in the same event with a mark of 45'01.00.

John Guagenti rounded out the men's track events with an eighth place finish in the 400-meter dash (48.79).

For the women, Jessica Rowland took fourth in the hammer throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 194'09, while Kendra Averesch finished 11th in the shot put with an NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 44'11.75.

In the 400-meter hurdles event, Maud Sanmiquel took fifth with a time of 1:02.94, while Pam Showman finished 10th with a time of 1:05.26.
