Oilers Shine In Cedarville Collegiate Open

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field team competed in the Cedarville Collegiate Open On Saturday, April 20 in Cedarville, Ohio.

Corey Shank set a new school record in the pole vault with an NCAA automatic qualifying height of 17'00.75. Derek Spindler finished fourth in the event with a mark of 14'00'00 while Parker Schroeder took third in the discus with a toss of 139'06.

Jacob Hayes won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:03.24.

Alexa Stults had a big day for the women as she won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.86 and finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:57.49. Kayla Sendelbach took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.42.

In the 200-meter run, Shelby Stump was the top finisher with a first place time of 26.21 while Emily Caudill took fourth (27.25), and Kirsten Gaerke took fifth (27.27).

Gaerke also placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.84, while Caudill took fourth with a time of 1:01.20.

Taylor Ackerman and Shelby Stump placed second and third in the 100-meter dash with times of 13.08 and 13.15, respectively, while Abigail Magner finished sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:52.73.

In women's field events, Lydia Guagenti took fourth in the high jump with a height of 4'11.75, and finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 97'05.

Stephanie Donaldson and Anna Knapski took fourth and fifth in the hammer throw with marks of 137'04 and 136'08, respectively. Knapski also finished eighth in the shot put (33'01.75), while Ackerman recorded a sixth place finish in the long jump (15'08.25).
