Men's Track Remains 5th, Rowland Honored Again

The University of Findlay men's outdoor track and field team is holding steady in the national rankings as they are ranked fifth again this week as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their NCAA Division II poll on Tuesday, May 7.

Individually, senior Derrick Vicars has the top mark nationally in the shot put (19.62m) and has the fourth best mark in the discus (55.93m) and fifth best mark in the hammer throw (61.69m). 

Junior Taylor Miller has the third best distance in the shot put (18.28m) and sophomore Corey Shank is ranked third nationally in the pole vault (5.20m).

The Oilers 4x400-meter relay team of John Guagenti, Darren Johnson, Tim Sanders and Dillon Webster have the sixth fastest time in their event at 3:10.20 while Guagenti is eighth in the 400-meter (46.95).

Senior Darren Bass is also ranked in the top-10, checking in eighth with a 17.49m mark in the shot put.

On the women's side, senior Jessica Rowland is ranked first nationally in the hammer throw (64.09m) while sophomore Kendra Averesch is ranked eighth in the shot put (14.75m).

Rowland also earned honorable mention honors from the USTFCCCA as a field athlete last week, the second time in a row she has earned the accolade.
