Track Completes Day 1 of Oiler Opener
The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams began their season on Dec. 6 with the first day of the Oiler Opener in the Malcolm Athletic Center.
Justin Welch led the way by winning the weight throw with a NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 72'02.25.
Parker Schroeder took fifth place in the event as well with a throw of 51'06.50.
On the women's side, Pam Showman won the pentathlon with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 3,558 points. She also recorded a provisional mark in the high jump part of the pentathlon at 5'05.75.
Maud Sanmiquel finished second in the pentathlon with a NCAA provisional point total of 3,344 while Lydia Guagenti took fourth in the same event at 3,063.
Liz Streacker recorded a fifth place finish in the weight throw with a provisional toss of 52'10.25 and Erica King took sixth in the event at 51'05.00.
