Oilers Complete 2 Events on Saturday

Hillsdale Winter Open Results

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams completed two events on Saturday, Jan. 11 as they took part in the Doug Raymond Invitational in Kent, Ohio and the Hillsdale Winter Open in Hillsdale, Mich.

At the Doug Raymond Invitational, Erica King paced the squad with a second place finish in the weight throw.  King placed second in the event with a NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 52'10.75.

Justin Welch took second in the weight throw on the men's side with a NCAA provisional heave of 68'07.25 while Mitch Adkins took fifth in the same event with a provisional mark of 54'02.75.

At Hillsdale, the Oilers were led by Maud Sanmiquel, who had a hand in two first place finishes.

Sanmiquel won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.07 and also teamed with Kadesha Roberts, Carlie Stump and Adrianna Powell-Lawrence to win the 4x400-meter relay at 4:01.65.

Pam Showman added a first place finish in the long jump at 16'06.00 and also took third in the 60-meter hurdles after crossing the finish line in 9.23.

Lydia Guagenti turned in a first place finish in the high jump, scoring a NCAA provisional mark of 5'05.25 while Lilia Malyarova took second in the same event at 16'04.50.

Samantha Grippe placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.50 as well.

On the men's side, Alexander Zolotoglavyy was first in the long jump with a leap of 22'08.50 and Dillon Webster was first in the 400-meter run with a NCAA provisional time of 49.08.

Webster also teamed with Maliik Briggs, Kyle Smithey and Jacob Miller to take second in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:28.34 and was third in the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 22.86.

Derek Collins placed second in the long jump with a mark of 21'06.25 as well for the Oilers.

The Oilers will now return home to host the Northwest Ohio Invitational on Jan. 17 in the Malcolm Athletic Center.
