Oilers Compete on Day 1 of Bellarmine Invitational

The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Louisville, KY to compete in the Bellarmine Invitational taking place this weekend. Day One results are from Friday, April 4 and the meet will conclude tomorrow Saturday, April 5.

In the women's 400 meter hurdles invite, sophomore Maud Sanmiquel won with her NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:01.59.

Sophomore Erica Bettac brought home another first place finish for the Oilers as she won the women's 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:17.59.

Freshman Erica King competed well for Findlay as she brought home a second place finish in the women's hammer throw invite. Her throw distanced 164'11", good enough to meet the NCAA provisional mark. Also competing in the event was junior Kendra Averesch. Her toss of 158'07" gave her sixth place.

In the women's 800 meter run invite, sophomore Samantha Grippe earned herself a fourth place finish with a time of 2:20.68.

Junior Justin Welch continued his success as he took first place for the second consecutive week in the men's hammer throw invite with another NCAA automatic qualifying throw of 218'06". Also in the event was senior Marcus Vicars. He took seventh place with a throw of 173'01".

In the men's hammer throw, freshman Ben Hahler brought home first place with a throw of 149'04".

Junior Dillon Webster took second place in the men's 400 meter dash invite with his time of 48.53.

Day 2 events will happen tomorrow, April 5th.
