Oiler Men Finish 13th at Otterbein Invitational

The University Oilers men's and women's cross country teams competed at a muddy Otterbein Invitational on Saturday, September 21 in Columbus, Ohio.  The men's team placed 13th while the women had a great meet, taking second.

For the Oiler men, junior Jacob Hayes was the top finisher coming in fourth place with a time of 26:29.

The other scores for Findlay came from sophomore Derek Bornorst who finished 57th (28:14), freshman Reid Wolin in 73rd (28:32), freshman Josh Seedorf in 112 (29:10), freshman Aaron Cingle in 124th (29:24), freshman Seth Pemberton (29:39), and sophomore Nick Valerio (185th, 31:31).

In the women's race, senior Alexa Stults was the top Findlay finisher, coming in fifth place with a time of 23:50.

Freshman Melanie Ruich was close behind, finishing 10th with a time of 24:24.

Others scoring points for the Oilers were sophomore Samantha Grippe, who came in 17th (24:46), senior Samantha Hassen, who finished in 27th (25:13), sophomore Erica Bettac (28th, 25:15), sophomore McKenzie Mahlmeister (48th, 25:54), and freshman Erin Reihnhart-Anez (56th, 26:10).

Freshman Maud Sanmiquel (67th, 26:42), sophomore Meredith Hoops (74th, 27:04), freshman Kailey Coleman (129, 28:07), and freshman Bethany Dewey (181, 30:15) also competed for Findlay.

The men and women return to action on October 4 in Cedarville, Ohio for the All-Ohio Championship with the women running at 2pm and the men to follow.
