Oilers Win, Tie At Urbana

The University of Findlay softball team won the first game of their doubleheader at Urbana University by a score of 7-5 in extra innings and then tied the Blue Knights 6-6 in the nightcap on Thursday, March 31. The games give the Oilers a 14-7-1 record on the year.

In the first game, Calli Coppus and Tori Allen each recorded RBI singles in the eighth to pull away from Urbana as Brittany Dauterman picked up the win by throwing five innings of scoreless ball.

Coppus and Allen each finished with three hits and two runs-batted-in to lead the offense.

In the second game, the Oilers gave up five runs in the fifth inning as the Blue Knights took a one-run lead, but Allen forced home a run on a walk in the sixth to tie the game before it was called for darkness.

Allen went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs-batted-in while Nikki Peskura scored two runs and had two hits.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 2 when they travel to Ashland, Ohio to face Ashland University in a twin bill beginning at noon.
