Eagles Sweep Oilers In Ashland

The University of Findlay softball team was swept by Ashland University on Thursday, April 7 in Ashland, Ohio. The Oilers lost the first game by a score of 2-1 and then fell 6-3 in the second contest to give them a 14-11 record on the season with a 2-8 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, the Eagles scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Lauren Orban (2-2) was saddled with the loss.

Orban threw six innings in the game, allowing two runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Calli Coppus went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In the second game, Alyssa Shultz (3-3) was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits in seven innings of work.

Brittany Dauterman smacked a three-run home run in the sixth and finished 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Findlay offense.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 9-10 when they face Lake Erie College for a pair of doubleheaders in Painesville, Ohio. Saturday's contests will begin at 1 pm and Sunday's games are scheduled for a 12 pm start.
