Oilers Sweep Concordia

The University of Findlay softball team swept a doubleheader against Concordia University on Thursday, March 17 at Anderson Field. The Oilers won the first game 9-0 and then came back with a 10-2 victory in the second to run their record to 9-3 on the season.

In the first game, the Oilers exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third inning to put Concordia away as Courtney Dwyer hit a grand slam in the frame.

Dwyer finished the contest 2-for-2 with four runs-batted-in and two runs scored while Emily Reynolds drove in a pair of runs on two hits.

Julia Stadler (1-1) picked up the victory by shutting out Concordia in four innings of work.

In the second game, the Oilers scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to come up with their second straight run rule win.

Carly Borders went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI's while Kara Hochevar drove in three runs on a pair of doubles.

Jaci Messmer added two RBI's and two runs scored as Lauren Orban (2-0) was victorious after allowing two runs on three hits in four innings of work.

The Oilers will be back in action again on March 21 when they host Malone University at 3:30 pm.
