Eagles Sweep Oilers On Sunday

The University of Findlay softball team was swept in a doubleheader by Ashland University on Sunday, April 3 in Ashland, Ohio. The Oilers lost the first game 4-3 and then fell 11-5 in the second contest to give them a 14-9-1 record on the year with a 2-6 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, the Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the game as Jackie Messersmith was saddled with the loss.

Messersmith (2-1) allowed four runs on ten hits in 6.1 innings of action.

Offensively, Jaci Messmer drove in two runs with a double.

In the second game, Brittany Dauterman (2-2) took the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits in two innings of work.

Messmer drove in two runs with two hits while Kara Hochevar and Taylor Bell also recorded a RBI in the game.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 6 when they host Wayne State University in a twin bill beginning at 3:30 pm.
