Timberwolves Sweep Oilers

The University of Findlay softball team was swept by Northwood University in a doubleheader on Friday, March 25 at Anderson Field. The Oilers lost the first game by a score of 8-7 in nine innings and then fell 11-3 in the second contest to give them an 11-5 record on the year with a 0-2 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, the Oilers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Brittany Dauterman then gave up two runs in the top of the ninth, but the Oilers rallied, scoring a run on an error in the bottom of the frame. With only one out, the Oilers stranded two runners as Northwood picked up the victory.

Dauterman took the loss by allowing five runs, only three earned, in six innings of action.

Kara Hochevar went 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and one driven in.

In the second game, Lauren Orban gave up four runs on four hits in one inning to take the loss.

Tori Allen knocked in two with a triple while Jaci Messmer went 2-for-3 in the loss.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow when they host Lake Superior State University in a twin bill beginning at 1 pm.
