Oilers Sweep Lakers On Saturday

The University of Findlay softball team swept Lake Superior State University in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 26 at Anderson Field. The wins give the Oilers a 13-5 record on the season with a 2-2 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers won the first game 4-2 as Alyssa Shultz improved to 3-1 on the season by allowing two runs, only one earned, on five hits in four innings of work.

Brittany Dauterman came on in relief to pick up the save after shutting out the Lakers for three innings.

Jaci Messmer led the offense by going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a run-batted-in.

The Oilers clobbered the Lakers in the second game, winning 14-3 in only five innings.

Calli Coppus led the way as she went 4-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI.

Lauren Mathias and Taylor Bell each drove in four runs while Messmer knocked in three and went 2-for-3 in the batters box.

Bell smacked a two-run homerun in the fourth and Kara Hochevar added a couple of hits to go along with a RBI in the victory.

The Oilers will host Saginaw Valley State University tomorrow at noon.
