Oilers Sweep Malone

The University of Findlay softball team swept a doubleheader against Malone University on Monday, March 21 at Anderson Field. The Oilers won the first game 9-2 and then came back with a 7-6 win in the night cap to run their record to 11-3 on the season.

In the first game, the Oilers got a two-run homer from freshman Tori Allen in the bottom of the sixth as Jackie Messersmith (2-0) picked up the victory after allowing only two hits and no runs in five innings of work.

Senior Kara Hochevar also added a pair of hits to go along with two runs-batted-in.

In the second game, sophomore Carly Borders hit a pair of homeruns and finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI's.

Senior Jaci Messmer finished 2-for-3 as well, hitting a homerun and a triple to go along with three RBI's.

Freshman Tawna Whited got the win in relief after allowing two runs on eight hits in four innings of action.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Friday when they host Northwood University in a twin bill beginning at 3:30 pm.
