Oilers Get 2 Wins on Wednesday

The University of Findlay softball team won their final two games of the Smash Hit Tournament on Wednesday, March 7 in Hardeeville, S.C.  The wins give the Oilers a 4-3 record on the season.

In the first game, the Oilers defeated Malone by a 5-4 score.  They then defeated Walsh 8-4 in the second contest of the day.

Against Malone, Grace Ammons took the win on the mound after allowing four runs on eight hits in seven innings of work.  She also struck out six batters and did not register a walk in the game.

Jenna Motuza led the offense by going 2-of-3 at the plate with two runs-batted-in and one run scored.

Against Walsh, Tori Allen blasted a two-run homer in the third inning and Emily Reynolds smacked a three-run shot in the bottom of the fifth to give the Oilers a victory.

Courtney Dwyer added a pair of hits and scored three runs while Tawna Whited recorded the win after allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings of action.

The Oilers will return home and host Urbana on March 13 at 3 p.m. for a double header at Anderson Field.
