Game 2

The University of Findlay softball team swept Ferris State on Friday, March 23, at Findlay, Ohio. The Oilers beat the Bulldogs 6-4 in eight innings and 10-4, respectively. Findlay improves to 10-5 overall with a mark of 2-0 in the Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Ferris State drops to 0-2 in conference action and 10-8 this season.

In the first game, the tough Bulldog defense kept the home team scoreless until the sixth inning. With Jenna Motuza on first, two Oilers singles loaded the bases. A fielder's choice gave Motuza the chance to run home. Three consecutive walks plated Tori Allen and Brittany Dauterman. Mathia's sacrifice fly to right field gave Emily Reynolds the green light to score.

Tied 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth frame, Carly Borders two-run homer into right field gave Findlay their first conference win as the Oilers defeated the Bulldogs 6-4.

Borders went 2-for-3 in the opener and produced 3 runs-batted-in while Allen generated two hits in the contest.

Tawna Whited improved to 5-4 allowing four runs off of eight hits in eight innings of work. Whited fanned four Bulldogs in her first conference victory on the mound.

The Oilers offense started strong in the nightcap as Dauterman's single down the left field line plated Courtney Dwyer and Motuza. After Reynolds reached on a fielder's choice, Borders homer brought both girls home, giving Findlay the early 4-0 lead.

The Bulldogs bit back with four runs off of four hits in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to one (5-4). Findlay responded with a seventh-inning offensive performance as Reynolds doubled to center. Emily Stewart sent Reynolds home on her own two-base hit before Motuza's single up the middle scored Stewart and Reynolds.

Tori Allen's double gave Motuza the green light for home as the Oilers knocked off the Bulldogs 10-4 in the nightcap of the GLIAC doubleheader.

Grace Ammons picked up her fifth win (5-1) allowing four runs from seven hits. Ammons and Daughterman generated two strikeouts each.

The University of Findlay softball team will host GLIAC rival Hillsdale College for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
