Oilers Split With Falcons

The University of Findlay softball split a doubleheader with Notre Dame College on Wednesday, March 28, winning 16-4 in five innings before losing 13-7 in the nightcap. The split gives the Oilers a 12-9 record on the season.

Jenna Motuza singled up the middle to ignite the Oiler offense. After being walked, Courtney Dwyer and Motuza advanced on a passed ball before being plated by Tori Allen. With Allen on third from a Dauterman one-base hit, two walks brought the score to 3-0. Jacki Messersmith's single gave Dauterman the green light for home.

In the bottom of the third inning, Findlay scored eight runs off of six hits. Another four Oilers across the plate in the following frame gave Findlay the 16-4 win over Notre Dame College.

In the first game, Brittany Dauterman picked up her third win while allowing four runs on six hits in five innings on the mound. She generated five strikeouts in the opener.

Dauterman and Emily Stewart both had three hits and three RBI. Allen also added three runs-batted-in for the Oilers in game one.

In the second game,Ammons dropped to 4-3 on the 2012 campaign, giving up 13 runs on 13 hits while fanning seven Falcons.

Carly Borders and Motuza each sported three hits in the second contest. Allen and Dauterman collected two RBI apiece.

The Oilers will host GLIAC rival Ashland University on Saturday, March 31, for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
