The University of Findlay softball team swept Saginaw Valley in a doubleheader on Sunday, April 15. The Oilers won the first game 2-0 in eight innings and then won 10-4 in the second contest to give them a 22-17 record on the season with a 13-11 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Brittany Dauterman picked up the win and allowed only six hits and two walks while fanning six batters on her eight innings on the mound.

In the first game, Dauterman homered in the top of the eighth to break the nil tie, plating herself and Jackie Messersmith. Tori Allen had two singles in the opener.

In the second contest, Tawna Whited collected her 11th win of the 2012 season, allowing seven hits and three walks in the 3-0 shutout against the Cardinals.

Carly Borders homered to right center in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead.

The following frame Dauterman's double gave both Courtney Dwyer and Messersmith the green light for home.

Dwyer, Dauterman, Borders, and Allen each had a hit in game two. Allen surpassed the Oiler record for doubles in a season with her 17th two-base hit against the Cardinals today.

The Oilers will travel to Wayne State on Wednesday, April 18 for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Detroit, Michigan.
