Oilers Split Games

Game 1

Game 2

The University of Findlay softball team split a twinbill with Tiffin University on Tuesday, April 24, winning 7-6 in extra innings before losing 11-3 in the second game. The split gives the Oilers a 23-24 record for their 2012 campaign, including a final 14-18 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Tiffin jumped starter Tawna Whited with six runs in the first two innings of the opener as the Dragons lead 6-4. Tori Allen smashed her first homerun of the contest in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to one.

In the bottom of the seventh, Whited's single hit a bad bounce in the outfield as she raced to third. A wild pitch gave Whited the green light for home as the Oilers tied the game 6-6. In the eighth inning, Tori Allen ripped her second homer of the game, giving Findlay the win 7-6 over Tiffin.

Both of Tori Allen's hits were homeruns, as Brittany Dauterman and Carly Borders each had a homer. Emily Reynolds produced two hits in the first game.

Dauterman took the victory, giving up only one run on six hits and one walk. She also fanned three batters in her six innings of work.

Grace Ammons was saddled with the loss, giving up seven runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings of work.

Allen went 3-for-3 at the plate for game two, including two singles and her 18th double of the season. Jenna Motuza and Emily Stewart had one RBI apiece.

The Oilers ended the 2012 campaign with 256 hits including 29 homeruns. Tori Allen set a new Findlay record for doubles in a season (18) as well as first on the team for slugging (.660) and batting average (.372).

Findlay will host the GLIAC Softball Tournament this weekend, April 27-29, at the Marathon Diamonds.
