Softball Picked to Finish 10th in the GLIAC

The University of Findlay softball team was picked to finish tenth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as the league office unveiled their preseason coaches poll on Feb. 20.

The Oilers received 71 points in the poll.  Grand Valley State University was tabbed as the favorite to win the conference in 2013 as they received 168 points and 12 first place votes.

Findlay finished with a 23-24 record last season, going 14-18 in conference play.  Senior Brittany Dauterman will lead the team after being named first team all-region and all-conference last year as a junior.

Dauterman, who will serve as the designated player when she is not pitching, hit .370 last year with seven home runs and 43 runs batted in.  Her seven home runs and 43 RBI's were the second highest single season totals in school history.

The Bloomdale, Ohio native also clubbed 14 doubles and finished with a 7-5 record on the mound with a team-high 3.02 earned run average.

In addition, junior Tori Allen and senior Jenna Motuza return after being named honorable mention all-conference in 2012.

Allen hit .372 on the season and led the team with 41 runs scored.  She also set a new single season record with 19 doubles while smacking six home runs and four triples.

The Toledo, Ohio native also drove in 36 runs and recorded 103 total bases, the second highest single season total in school history.
