Oilers Split Against Hillsdale

The University of Findlay softball team split with Hillsdale College in a doubleheader at Anderson Field on Saturday, March 23. The Oilers won the first game 7-1 and then fell 10-5 in the second contest to give them a 111-3 record on the season with a 1-1 start in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Brittany Dauterman picked up the win while pitching for all seven innings. She fanned nine batters and allowed one run off of five hits and four walks.

Emily Reynolds' grand slam in the top of the fifth put the Oilers up 6-0. Hillsdale's Kate Hoop took Dauterman's shutout with a single to left field to score Julia Kosco. Jenna Motuza plated Kari Sparling in the top of the next frame for a 7-1 victory.

In the second game, Tawna Whited dropped to 4-1 on the 2013 campaign with five strikeouts and gave up six runs on nine hits.

Tori Allen, Motuza, and Dauterman each sported two hits as Reynolds generated two RBI in game two.

The Oilers will host Lewis University on Tuesday, March 26, for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
